Allen's test procedure
1. apply pressure to the radial and ulnar arteries simultaneously
2. with pressure applied, ask the pt to clench and unclench fist
3. the hands SHOULD blanch
4. release pressure from the ulnar artery while still compressing the radial
5. if pinkness does not return within 6-7 second, the ulnar artery is insufficient, and the
radial should not be used
arterial line care
check: circulation, bleeding, waveform
restrict movement at site
pressure bag at 300 mg/HG
Heparinize NS (3-6mL/hr)
discontinuing arterial line procedure
1.Remove suture
