I have designed this course plan in such a way that it is a combination of both skill-based
and topic-based methods it is also in alignment with Alberto’s interests and needs as he
mentioned in his interview and questionnaire. The main focus of this course plan is for
Alberto to better his English language skills especially in the workplace as well as his daily
interactions. I will in this rationale explain why I have come up with this syllabus whilst
explaining how Alberto’s needs will be explained.
Why I Have Chosen This Syllabus Type
The choice I have made to make use of both skill-based and topic-based methods for the
syllabus is made by Alberto's needs and requests. A skill-based syllabus is ideal to help his
language skills, such as speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar. Alberto
explained that he wants to improve his English to broaden his horizon of job searches and
