Occurs in somatic cells (Not involved with sex cells)
Chromosome is copied with a set for new cells
Duplicate cells with have same gene structure as parent
Spindle Fibre
Checkpoint
Cell cycle unable to progress without the formation of spindle fibres
Form microtubules starting from the centrioles
Kinetochore fibres extend from the spindle pole to the chromosome
centromere
Meiosis (Gamete Formation)
Mitosis- Random interphase
Interphase still occurs in meiosis, end product is 4 haploid cells
Egg and sperm= 2 halves of genetic information
