Unleashing Creativity is a journey beyond boundaries
“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire,
you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will.” – (George
Bernard Shaw).
Imagination has no limits. People can think beyond the walls and create new
things. We see the creativity of God everywhere and it amazes us every time.
We see nature, are inspired, imagine and create art.
“In my EDU 202 class at CUNY-BMCC, Prof. Victoria
H.Febrer led us through an activity called ‘How do you and your family cook
rice?’ which she originally developed for 5th grade learners”. In this activity we
have created a video of making rice which type of rice you usually cook at your
homes. This video lesson reflects the idea of working with peers and creating a
positive bonding between them. Before starting the cooking we follow some
important instructions and kitchen rules which we call warm up. First we ensure
that the kitchen is clean and everything we need for this recipe we have. Also
before starting the cooking, clean your hands and follow your peers ( Parents or
any adult) guide. Moreover, don't turn on the stove by yourself.
My video is about “How to cook Pakistani Biryani?”.
This video is for 5th grade students who have to make this recipe with an adult.
For making the Pakistani biryani we need a few more ingredients in the recipe.
, History: This recipe has been made in Pakistan since the Mughal empire. It
originated in Persia and was brought to Industan( currently Pakistan and India)
by Mughals(1526-1857).
This lesson plan is for 5th grade students by Prof.
Victoria H. Febrer which helps us to understand the guldine to papering the
lessons for the classroom. It helps us to complete the task according to the exact
format under rules. I cook often but did not think about making videos. It's my first
experience of making cooking videos which are not new but a good experience.
It's a good way to convey knowledge from one corner of the world to another and
people can enjoy the different cuisines and food at home without visiting a
particular place.
Visual art is an important aspect of making videos which have incredible effect on
its viewers. Children aged 10-12 are often easily distracted by their surrounding
activities. Use of visual and different moving images really help students to stay
focused and connect with the lesson. Also it leaves some visuals/ pictures of
different things which they see which is the main purpose of visual art
teaching/learning. I personally connect with that because as a bilingual student I
can go through this process of learning. When I see the images with information
I quickly understand it and memorize it. In her book_ Arts Intergration_, Merrly
Goldberg states that “ the arts are one of the most authentic ways for bilingual
youth to interact with others and take positions on aesthetic content and form,
