Epigenetics
Nature vs nurture
there are other factors that play an important role in gene expression
Environment, nutrition and stress
Nurture encompasses all we experience
Behaviour is a product of both nature and nurture
While it is generally accepted that behavior is a product of nature and nurture,
many still ask how much is determined by each—but genetic and experiential
factors do not merely combine in an additive fashion.
Interactionism
ALL of our cells are in all of our cells
What is expressed or turned on/off depends on (during development and
during our daily activities
Epigenetics 1
, Evolution
Natural selection:
Does not have to take a lot of time, and can be as quick as one season (can be
due to drought like in Finch)
Darwin & evolution: was not the first to propose evolution, but was the first to
propose how it can happen
Proposed natural selection
The better adapted you are to your environment the more likely you are to
live and produce off spring
Not stagnant
