1. Fibroma -MOST common "tumor" of oral cavity
-Reactive Hyperplasia (NOT neoplasia) of fibers
CT-> lo- cal irritation or trauma.
-Most common location= buccal mucosa along
bite line
-Looks like: asymptomatic, sessile, smooth surface
nodule w/ similar color as surrounding tissue
Tx: conservative surgical excition= curative
(submit for exam)
2. Giant Cell -Fibrous tumor w/ distinctive freatures; NOT assoc.
Fibro- ma w/ chronic irritation.
-Papillary surface, often GINGIVA
-In younger age than other
fibromas Tx:conservative surgical
excision
3. Retrocuspid
papilla
-Microscopically similar lesion (GIANT CELL
FIBROMA) of gingiva, lingual to MD cuspid.
-Typically bilateral
-Present in up to 99% of children
-NORMAL anatomic variation that regresses w/
age Tx: no biopsry needed

4. Inflammatory Fi- -Tumor-like hyperplasia of fibrous CT
brous Hyperpla- -Usually in facial aspect of alveolar ridge
sia
--EPULIS FISSURATUM--> inflammatory fibrous
hyper- plasia in assoc w/ flange of ill-fiting
denture.
Tx: surgical removal & remake denture
5. Inflammatory
Papillary -Reactive tissue growth that developed under a
Hyperplasia denture
-related to:
--ill-fitting denture
--poor denture hygiene
--Wearing denture 24 hr/day
-20% of people who continuously wear denture
have IPH
-Hard plate
- may have candida too
Looks like: asymptomatic, erythmatous tissue w/
pebbly or papillary surface
Tx:remove denture to allow healing. Anti fungal

6. Pyogenic -NOT a true granuloma!
granu- loma -Reactive lesion to lacal irritation or trauma (poor
hygiene)
-May have rapid growth w/ proliferating capillaries
-75% on gingiva (followed by lips, tongue, &
buccal mu- cosa)
-CHILDREN & YOUNG ADULTS
Female predilection: "pregnancy tumor"- 1st
trimester, or granuloma gravidarum.
-May regress after pregnancy
Looks like: Smooth, or lobulated mass that is
peduncu- lated. Surface is ulcerated & bleeds
easily. Red first then turns to be collagenized &
pink
Tx: Surgical excision that extends to periosteum
And adja- cent teeth scaled. no tx for pregnancy
ones util later unless esthetic.
-often recur
7. Peripheral
giant cell
granuloma -Reactive lesion caused by local irritation or
trauma
-EXCLUSIVLY on gingiva
-average age= 35, 60% female
-May produce "cupping resorption" of underlying
alveolar bone.
