1.2 Functions and Graphs
Functions are a fundamental concept in mathematics. In this section, we discuss the notion of a function and the relationship between two important pieces of a function:domain and range. These notes include examples for identifying functions given a specific domain and range, as well as a variety of examples practicing how to evaluate a function with unique inputs. We then examine the visual graphs of some functions and use the Vertical Line Test (VLT) in determining whether the graph represents a proper function. Finally, we look at a plethora of examples on how to find the proper domain of any given function.
