KEY TERMS GLOSSARY
Annulment The ending of a marriage that was never legitimate.
Arranged A marriage planned and agreed by the families or guardians of the couple concerned.

Artificial Preventing conception through hormonal or barrier methods - pill, coil, condom etc.
Contraception
Cohabitation A couple living together and having a sexual relationship, but not being married.
Conception The act of conceiving a child, becoming pregnant.
Contraception An umbrella term that includes any way to prevent a pregnancy as a result of sexual intercourse. There
are different beliefs about how contraception should be used depending on the faith and denomination.
Covenant An agreement / promise between 2 people that has been witnessed by God.
Discrimination The unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the ground of race, age,
sex or disability.
Divorce The legal dissolution of a marriage by a court or other competent body.
Extended Family Extends beyond nuclear family - consists of parents, children, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles.
Family A group of one or more parents and their children living together as a unit.
Gender Equality The state in which access to rights or opportunities is unaffected by gender.
Heterosexual A person who is attracted to people of the opposite gender.
Homophobia Prejudice directed against homosexual people.
