Public station - answer Station open to public performing inspections on vehicles
presented by the public
Fleet station - answer A station not providing vehicle inspections services to the public
Government station - answer A station operated by a political subdivision or agency of
this state
1Y - answer1Y-inspect any vehicle requiring a one year inspection
CW - answer, CW-may inspect any vehicle requiring a commercial inspection
CT - answer, CT-inspect any vehicle requiring a commercial trailer inspection,
TL – answer TL-may inspect any vehicle requiring a trailer inspection
2Y - answer2Y-inspect any vehicle requiring a two year inspection
MC - answer May inspect any vehicle requiring motor inspection
Space Requirements - answerSound structure, in good repair, permanent type building,
with two permanent walls in an area approved by the department. Must be free from any
obstructions that will interfere with inspection. Must have a specific vehicle inspection
station with required tools during inspection hours available. The station will include
good lighting with a hard surface, lifts pits and runners permissible IF all requirements
are met.
Space Requirements - answer12 feet wide by 24 feet long minimum space, area must
be approved by the department.
Floors - answerEntire floor hard surface such as asphalt or concrete
Government inspection - answerStations shall meet all of the requirements as
prescribed for a public inspection station
Fleet inspection station - answerFleet inspection station shall meet all the requirements
as prescribed for a public inspection station, may only inspect vehicles owned by the
company under bona fife lease to the company or vehicles covered under service
contract with the company
