ASSIGNMENT 01

UNIQUE ASSIGNMENT NUMBER: 646063

, INTRODUCTION
In my community, I notice many different difficulties faced every day. With the current
economy, the cost of living is extremely high especially for the lower- and middle-
class individuals. Many struggle every month to make ends meet. NPO programmes
and free government resources are very limited.

The individuals are not the only ones that are currently struggling, many don’t notice
the poor animals living on the streets due to neglect and these individuals not being
able to afford to give these poor animals their basic necessities. That Is why I would
like to consider a project to help these poor animals.

What my project would entail:

This project would be an animal rescue and would entail feeding/sterilizing/neutering
these poor street dogs and cats. I would like to create a programme that allows me
and other volunteers with the same passion to assist these animals in any way
possible, that will include even adoptions.

Currently the only programme that is available in my community is the SPA
programme, but they are overcrowded and are unable to meet all these animals
requirements, they choose to put these animals to sleep due to the overcrowding
and no interest in adoption. The SPA is also still costly for sterilizations that is why
many people just leave their pets without these sterilizations, which results in them
getting diseases and eventually dying.

These animals also have rights, they are just unable to advocate for themselves. I
would like to be their voice. They deserve to have their basic needs met as well,
such as food, shelter and health services.

I would like to create a space for these animals where they can feel safe and loved.
This space will be open to anyone who would even just like to come and visit and
play with these animals in order to give them the love and warmth they require.
I have always had a passion for caring for animals and feel saddened by seeing hurt
and uncared for animals, I share this same passion with all my immediate family
members. I would include them all to share in creating this project with me. This will
be a family-centred initiative.
