,INTRODUCTION
Through my voluntary work and this module, I have discovered a sense of purpose
and fulfilment that extends beyond the classroom. In describing my volunteer
experience, this portfolio highlights the various organizations, campaigns, and
occasions that have shaped my understanding of social responsibility and
community service.
I have been fortunate enough to volunteer for organizations that have given me
invaluable perspectives, skills, and insights that have not only improved my life but
also given me the tools I need to positively impact my community. This portfolio
documents my experience volunteering, highlighting my growth as a person, my
commitment to service, my excitement for making a meaningful difference, and
advice for upcoming students.
SECTION 1
EVIDENCE OF MY WORK
ACTIVITY 1: CREATING MY OWN PROJECT
In order to help the underprivileged dogs and cats on the streets in my
neighbourhood, I would like to launch a project that would resemble an animal
rescue and involve feeding, neutering, and sterilizing these animals. To help these
creatures in any way we can—including adoptions—I would like to start a program
with other volunteers who share my interest. For these animals, I want to provide a
place where they feel loved and safe.
, To help these creatures get the love and warmth they need, this place will be
available to anyone who would even just like to stop by and play with the animals. I
have always had a strong desire to help animals and find it saddening to witness
animals in need of care. My close family members all share this enthusiasm. To
collaborate on this project with me, I would invite each of them to participate. This is
going to be a family-centred initiative.
Many resources will be needed to start a project like this.
• The biggest resource will be funding.
• My funding will go towards facilities and all other expenses such as:
Equipment, Food, Medical Expenses, Certifications, Insurance, Salaries for
paid workers and Marketing and promotion
• Another important resource I will need is knowledge.
• I will need human resources.
• I need time to work on this project and implement it
• An important resource which gets overlooked but is necessary, is emotional
support.
ACTIVITY 2: WHY I VOLUNTEER.
Volunteering is a rewarding experience that benefits both the organisation and the
volunteers. I have mainly volunteered at animal shelters, due to my love for animals,
and I will continue to do so, as animals aren’t able to speak up for themselves and
require us to advocate for them. By volunteering at these organisations, I am able
have a little sense of relief that these animals are getting cared for, fed and safe.
