On bored entertainer- cruise & maritime voyages
On bored entertainment is a big thing on cruises, shows and performances are put on every night by entertainers.
Often, they are before dinner where guests can have a drink and relax after a long day on and off the cruise. The
Entertaiment is highly acclaimed and performed by professional actors or people who have done hit broadways
before. as well as that you could be comedian, singer, dancer or magician, to become a cruise ship entertainer.
The performances are specifically chosen, and guest entertainers are added to the list to make sure that they have
a variety of entertainment on bored.

To work on a cruise ship you have to be an acclaimed entertainer as you are expected to put on the best show you
can each time you preform, its helps greatly if you have done hit shows or had a main part in a big production as
you are expected to be the best you can to get the job. Often you will be employed with your cast if you have done
a well seen theater production together to then preform the show to customers on the cruise.

For your job you will have to put on shows and performances for the customers
on the cruise ships. You must deliver excellent Entertaiment that satisfies the
customers that you are performing for. You have to make sure that you have
planned your performances and that you have rehearsed them enough to know
them well enough to perform. As well you would have to make up new
performances, so customers get new performances each night.

Entry reequipments include having trained in music, dance or acting to help you
get into the job. Whist getting experience for the job you can do it whilst being
payed or not doing things such as taking part in open mic sessions or local talent shows, working at theme parks or
holiday centers, preforming at pubs or clubs and street preforming. The interview will often contain an audition to
show off your skills and to prove you can actually do as you say. You’ll need clearance from the Disclosure and
Barring Service (DBS) to make sure that you are safe and can be hired as an entertainer for all ages.

Responsibilities include preforming your act on stage, preforming with your group or as a solo, rehearsing, making
new material for your acts, looking after costumes, cleaning props, dealing with finances and promoting your acts.

Working environment for an entertainer is different for each person who works on a cruise, some people find the
lifestyle hard to adjust to. When working on a cruise the cabins that sleep in can often be shared with a member of
your act or with another entertainer, there is very little times when you will get a room to yourself as the curies
want the most rooms left for guests. Work can be inside of the cruise ship or out on a deck you have to be
prepared for either option but most of the time it will be inside. You have to prepare to be away from your family
and friends for a long period of time as you won't be able to see them if you away on a cruise ship for months at a
time.

Terms and conditions of an on bored entertainer would Include
working most days for the amount of time that your performances
are, that could be as short as 20 minutes or a few hours it depends on
your performance; some people will only work a few hours per week
meaning most of your time is take up with rehearsing and making up
new material. You will get payed a rough salary of about 1600 it just
depends on the hours you work and the act that you are. As an
entertainer you will have a certain uniform that you are required to wear when preforming, it must always be kept
