What is the purpose of Intact Family Services? - Answer-Answer: to provide short-term voluntary
services that ensure the development, safety and well-being of children and to prevent the need for out-
of-home placement
What criteria must be present to make a family eligible for Intact Family Services? - Answer-(indicated
report) referral resulting from a child abuse and/or neglect investigation
including investigations in which protective custody has lapsed, or a court ordered "exception" as in The
Department has no current legal relationship to or legal responsibility for any child in the family (i.e. no
legal custody or guardianship of any
Court order (supervision)
Pending investigation (family need services to ensure children safety)
Children in placement case (less than 30 days, requested by CPS, probate court, family court and
juvenile court)
Without an indication of abuse or neglect (families reach out for resources)
What should each Child Protection Specialist obtain prior to the family receiving Intact
Family Services? - Answer-Answer: voluntary consent and document in case note (name of guardian
who gave consent with date and time)
, How many days after the case assignment (excluding holidays and weekends) should you
attend and participate in the Handoff Staffing (intact worker and supervisor and child protection
specialist discuss needs of the family) ? - Answer-within 1 business day
How many days after the case assignment (excluding holidays and weekends) should
you conduct an in person visit with the child and all of the parents/guardians and caregiver
in the substitute? - Answer-2 business days
What must you do if the first attempt to meet the family at the Transitional Visit is
unsuccessful? - Answer-2 business days after
How many days after case opening should you complete your initial CERAP assessment? - Answer-
within 5 business days following T.V.
How often should you have in-person meetings with families and children at their
residence? - Answer-minimum once every calendar week for the first 4 full calendar weeks
as families make progress with service plans you can adjust frequency (minimum once a month)
1 unannounced visit each month
What actions should workers take and/or consider before leaving the home? - Answer-all necessary
action to ensure the safety of the children..
Caseworker cannot leave if..
Observe or learns of anything that leads him/her to believe that child abuse or neglect has occurred
Obtains knowledge of incidents that have jeopardized a child's safety
Is prevented by the parent/caregiver from seeing and/or interviewing a child
Obtains knowledge that the safety plan has been violated
Obtains knowledge that the perpetrator has had access to the child
