- Abundance- the number of individuals of a species in a given space
- Small samples of habitat studied in detail- must be representative of the habitat as a w
conclusion drawn from the findings will be reliable
Quadrats
Point quadrat- horizontal bar supported by two legs. Ten holes are along set intervals- long p
dropped- each species that the pin touches is recorded
Frame quadrat- square frame divided by string or wire into equally sized subdivisions- can be
be more compact for storage and transport- quadrat placed in different locations within area
studied- abundance of each species within quadrat is recorded
