• This is a group of small gram-negative, pleomorphic coccobacilli
• Aerobic or facultative anaerobes, non-motile and non-spore forming
• Grows on sheep blood ager around colonies of staphylococcus aure
(satellite phenomenon)
• Oxidase positive
• Present in mouth & upper respiratory tract as a normal microbial flo
in healthy people.
• The group is fastidious requiring growth factors for isolation.
