Content preview

Food waste refers to the act of discarding food that is considered waste. Food production, distribution, and sale contribute to this waste. One-
third of the food produced globally is wasted or lost. According to a report published by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in
2029, it states that 10.6 million tons of food are produced in Bangladesh, while globally, 100-200 million tons of food are wasted.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), "food loss" and "food waste" are collectively referred to as food waste, which is a significant issue.
Strategies to prevent food waste include:

1. Planning to acquire the necessary amount of food. We need to make a list of what we need and purchase accordingly. Excess food should
not be bought.

2. Cook in the required quantity. Prepare only as much as needed according to the number of family members. Excess cooking is not allowed.

3. Take only as much food as can be eaten.

4. Use leftover food to prepare different types of meals together into a soup. For example, various vegetables can be combined, and fried rice
can be made with rice, fish, meat, eggs, vegetables, etc.

5. If necessary, boil well, cool down, and store in the fridge.
