Topic 1 Discussion Question 1

Describe how you believe the "GCU Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work"
connects to the concept of a professional educator.

Hello Professor Hensley and Classmates,

I feel that the Statement of Faith, Learning, and Work connect to the concept of being an
educator by having the same values. As an educator we want our students to succeed and have
faith in all that they do. We want them to believe in themselves, to do good. Jesus wants
individuals to contribute good to the world and people around us. We want our students to be
compassionate and love one another. This is the same in Christian lifestyles, Jesus wants us to be
compassionate toward others. Not just spiritually but physically as well. Personally, I believe that
the right educator can bring out the best in any child. Not all educators get along with every
child. When the student and educator get along, I feel that it can help guide them to the right
path. As Christians we want to be the best version of ourselves. Personally, I want my future
students to be the absolute best versions of themselves. If I do not take my own advice how can I
expect my students to? The answer is I cannot, I must show them. I feel that the impact we make
on every child we encounter will last forever. I have had teachers that have made negative
impacts on me these memories have stuck with me forever. I have also had teachers that have
great impacts on me. One of those teachers is the reason that I want to be a teacher today.

students is extremely difficult. So why are teachers not treated like professionals, some of it is
