inhabited by approximately eighty million

regardless of Curzon's actions. A lieutenant
governor struggled with overseeing the
eastern regions effectively. Mostly, Muslims
suffered greatly under the inept British
administration. Prior to 1905 numerous
proposals for Bengal's partition had been
floated but Lord Curzon opted for
actualising this administrative blueprint.
