Notes about Entries - Answer-Entries should contain all relevant information NOT on the
map, the map should be the primary vehicle for information. Never rely on memory.
Write notes in a way that, if you should die, another geologist could finish your report by
means of them.
It should be possible to tell the date and place of every entry. short phrases about
observations. Descriptions from general to specifics
Always have the final report in mind. Do not be afraid to express confusion
Map Scales - Answer-Fractional: specific to the page you are on
Graphical: this will change as you go up an down
Verbal: the least reliable
Magnetic declination - Answer-the angle between geographic north and the north to
which a compass needle points
Contour mapping rules - Answer--contour lines do not cross other contour lines
