Unit 2, Outcome 2: Evaluate how adaptations and interdependencies enhance
survival within a population
Adaptations of an Organism: How have I survived?
Task:
Create a poster A3 on your chosen organism and ecosystem (one organism per
person). Your poster should include the following information:
Explain what adaptations are and why they are important.
Define the three types of adaptations and provide an example of each.
Correctly classify the organism (KPCOFGS) identify all categories.
Describe the organisms’ natural habitat/ecosystem and where it fits
within a food web.
Describe and give examples of the structural adaptations of your
organism, which increase chances of survival.
Describe ‘tolerance range’ and how your organism detects and
responds to changes in the environment.
Describe and explain behavioural adaptations including rhythmic
activities and feeding behaviours in animals.
Describe and explain communication in animals, including social and
territorial behaviours.
Describe reproductive adaptations; including variations in systems,
strategies, development and life cycles.
List the animals’ behavioural and physical adaptations and compare
them to at least one other organism.
Include pictures, diagrams, tables etc to adequately display your
information.
References; all information must be referenced and of course in your
own words.
