Module 3 short responses assignment
Letson, Katie
, Module 3 Short Responses – Question 1
What types of sources could be used to research the economic impact of the women's
movement? What about for its social impact? Develop relevant search terms.
Primary sources and secondary sources should be used to research the social and economic
impact of the women's movement. There are a few types of primary sources that I would
consider for the research such as photos, or a hand written letter because these are firsthand
and reveal details from somebody’s eyewitness account or own experiences. For the
secondary resources it would be very important to look for a newspaper article editorial,
journal articles, books that may feature an analysis of the women's movement, and art work
or pieces that are about or from the time of the women's movement. The search terms I would
put in to the Shapiro Library search bar would be the following: women's movement, impact
and women’s rights, 1964 and women, social impact women, women rights economics, or
movement 1964 and social. I believe that these terms would generate the correct types of
sources with relevant content .
Module 3 Short Responses – Question 2
Congress held its final vote to approve the Nineteenth Amendment on June 4, 1919.
Was this a necessary or a contributory cause of the success of the woman suffrage
movement?
The vote to approve the 19th Amendment was a necessary cause of the success of the woman
suffrage movement. The woman’s suffrage movement was successful first and the vote to
approve the19th Amendment likely only happened later because of the success of the
movement.
Module 3 Short Responses – Question 3
The National American Woman Suffrage Association supported the U.S. decision to
enter World War I and publicly encouraged women to support the war effort. Was this
a necessary or a contributory cause of the success of the woman suffrage movement?
This is a contributory cause of the success of the women’s suffrage movement. The event is
more likely to have happened because of contributions of the success of the woman suffrage
movement.
