UH-60 Warnings, Cautions, Notes (Condensed) Run-Up/Shut Down
Shoulder harness locks - Check for proper operation of the two position harness inertia reel lock lever. (W, W) 1st Warning: Ensure the seatbelt is below the BUP (Ballistic Upgrade Plate) to prevent cyclic restriction. 2nd Warning: All loose straps must be secured properly before putting on the safety belt. Cockpit Equipment Checks. (N) Note: Ensure all emergency controls can be reached while fully restrained and that you are at the design eye position. (C, N, N) Caution: Before switching to APU power make sure the MCU is off. 1st Note: Once the switch is on, if the APU doesn't start and the APU ACCUM LOW advisory doesn't appear, pull and hold the manual override lever on the accumulator manifold to attempt another start. 2nd Note: If the APU fails note the BITE indications before cycling the BATT switch or attempting another APU start. APU generator switch - ON. (W) Warning: Clear the stabilator before applying AC power and before energizing the stabilator system. Doppler/GPS - On and program. (N) Note: Only use map datums WGS-84 and NAD-27. Caution/advisory/warning panels - Check as required. (N, N) 1st Note: Cautions and advisories may pulsate in unison with the LOW ROTOR RPM warnings in DIM mode. 2nd Note: The VSI/HSI and CIS mode select panel switch legend may change when the caution/advisory panel BRT/DIM-TEST switch is set to TEST as well as in flight. Pressing the applicable switches will restore the indications. Flight controls - Check first helicopter flight of the day. (W, W, N) 1st Warning: Ensure there is no interference of the flight controls from aviator worn gear. 2nd Warning: Don't fly the helicopter if the #1 or #2 PRI SERVO PRESS caution appears during collective movement. Note: During steps h. and i., check for no more than 1.5 inches in freeplay. Stabilator - Check. (W, N) Warning Warning: Don't fly the helicopter if any part of the stabilator check fails. Note: Use the right STAB POS indicator for this test. The left STAB POS indicator may vary by + or - 2 degrees. Engine(s) - Start. (C, N, C, C, N) 1st Caution: If the ENGINE IGNITION is off when the start is attempted, don't turn it on. Abort the start. 1st Note: During the start the #1 or #2 FUEL PRESS cautions may appear briefly. Don't use the FUEL BOOST PUMP CONTROL switches to extinguish the FUEL PRESS cautions. 2nd Caution: Don't move the ENG POWER CONT lever from IDLE to OFF while pressing the starter button. 3rd Caution: During the start and run-up, keep the cyclic neutral, the collective no more than one inch up, and the pedals centered until RPM R reaches 50%. 2nd Note: If the ENGINE STARTER caution disappears when the starter button is released and the ENG POWER CONT lever is OFF, you can continue the start by pressing and holding the starter button until 52-65% Ng is reached. Hydraulic leak test system - Check. (N, N) 1st Note: Don't hold the switch in the TEST position when performing the HYD LEAK TEST. 2nd Note: If the backup pump is still running following the hydraulic leak test, cycle the BACKUP HYD PUMP switch to OFF then back to AUTO. Tail rotor servo transfer - Check. (N) Note: If the BACK-UP PUMP ON advisory or the #2 TAIL RTR SERVO ON advisory don't appear there is a failure in the leak detection/isolation system. ENGINE RUNUP. (C) Caution: Do not transition power from APU generator to main generators while the CMWS is booting. ENG POWER CONT lever(s) - FLY. (W) Warning: Restrict the rate of ENG POWER CONT lever's movement when the tailwheel lock pin is not engaged to prevent the helicopter from turning. GPS/DPLR NAV MODE selector - As desired. (N) Note: If you have a route programmed don't perform the test function or it will be deleted. Collective friction - As required. (N) Note: Approximately 3 pounds of collective friction should be used. FUEL BOOST PUMP CONTROL switches - Check before every flight to determine operability. Leave on if required. (W) Warning: Keep the FUEL BOOST PUMP CONTROL switches on during and ten minutes after all pressurized fuel transfer operations.
