Summary UCAT Abstract Reasoning Patterns Cheat Sheet

Patterns for Set A/B:

- Centre shape is always a specific shape

- Number of shapes
- Number of corners/sides

- Whether it touches the edge of the box

- More black shapes, even number of shapes
More white shapes, odd number of shapes

- All straight edges + odd number of shapes
All curved edges + even number of shapes
Or vice versa

- Total number of sides is odd/even (which can then be split into colour)

- Total number of sides is odd then an x shape
Total number of sides is even then a + shape

X or +
- + if total number of sides is even
x if total number of sides is odd
All the black and striped shapes add up to an even number of sides

If shapes are unshaded then pairs are an x
If one pair is shaded then +

If one or more odd sided shapes then x
If all shapes are even sided then +

X when white shapes
+ when black shape
Shapes on opposite ends are same/different/number of sides

+ is rotated to an x if there are an odd number of shaded shapes
+ is rotated to an x if there an an even number of shaded shapes

X if there are two shaded shapes at opposite ends to each other - at least one pair there
can be three shaded but one pair is on opposite so x
+ if there are two shaded shapes at opposite ends to each other
