public transport? Should we not take advantage of the privileges of public transport that
our country has provided for us? Cars or public transport; a fundamental question to ask
in today’s society.
Having a car is easy. You can use it all throughout the day and it takes you to any of your
desired destinations. However, cars also emit a colossal amount of pollution into our
environment which directly contributes to the greenhouse effect. How can the human race
be so cruel that we are willing to jeopardise the future of our planet just for our own
comfort? The pollution released by cars not only impacts the environment around us, but
it also contributes to many long-term diseases. Lung cancer rates are growing at an
exponential rate and other breathing disorders are skyrocketing at an alarming pace. All
because we would rather use a car. These help problems have a detrimental impact on our
future society. Are we willing to throw away a healthy, prosperous community for cars?
Furthermore, owning a car has also become expensive. People with cars have to pay for
insurance, parking, buying the actual car, maintenance for the car, road tax; the list is just
endless! We could save all of this money by just taking public transport. What would you
rather pay: thousands of pounds or just £3.50 a day? Just think about all that money that
you will have saved if you forget about owning a car. Think about all the extra holidays
and extra luxuries that you could buy. Who’s willing to throw all of that away for a car?
The answer is clear to me. Public transport is evidently the better option, especially for
those who struggle financially and cannot afford to spend such huge amounts.
However, as a person who regularly uses public transport, I can admit that it isn’t the
safest option. When we travel on buses or trains, we are surrounded by strangers. Who
knows what their intentions could be? Furthermore, public transport may attract
drunkards who verbally abuse and harass other travellers. How is this a safe
