In this assignment, I will write a report that explains the different operational issues in relation to
the use of information. In this case, I will be linking all my information to St Joseph's Catholic
High School.
St Joseph's is a Catholic School, for both girls and boys that consists of over than 800 students.
An operational issue is a problem with a process of carrying out a particular task. These split
into few main operational issues, which are:
❖ Security of information
❖ Backups
❖ Health and safety
❖ Business continuity plan
❖ Costs
❖ Organizational policies
Security of information is the process of protecting a database within an organisation from any
dangerous destructive forces and unwanted actions or unauthorized users. To make sure the
database of St Joseph's is secure the school downloaded an antivirus on the school's
computers/laptops to protect any hackers or third party users reaching the school's data and
information.
In order to make sure that St Joseph's school software data is as secure as it can be they have
inured login and passwords for their staff and students so that they can access their data. This
is an effective way of protecting data from being misused or hacked into from outsiders as the
keeper of the login will know the details and the IT technician.
Lastly, to overcome any further dangers of the private school based information being used,
when changing the IT equipment such as computers, laptops, IPad, the IT technician will make
sure to remove all the data on the computer so that no one from outside the school can have
access to the information.
Backup of data/information is a process of copying or archiving data so that it can be used to
restore original data after it gets lost. To prevent any lost work St Joseph's backs up their data
and information on backup devices such as hard drives. But the most effective backup strategy
for st Joseph’s as a school is installing backup software, this is because as a school they have a
lot of data to have saved. Using backups within a school is important because the school
contains any confidential information such as students/staffs personal information, for example,
name, surname or home
address.
