Pett Level is part of the county of East Sussex
Halfway between Hastings and Camber Sands

Coastal Protection at Pett Level
Different types of coastal

Groynes are built to trap the
shingle on the beach
A sea wall is also built to build
shingle up against it
Beach replenishment is also

Pett Level and Cliff End
Cliff End is made up of a collection of
cliffs
The cliffs are made up of hard and
soft rocks of clay and sandstone
There are also layers of shale oil
Cliff End is only protected by a
headland
It is used to compare to Pett Level to
see the difference in the effectiveness
of coastal protection
