- first level of private health care
- variety of community settings
- Accessibility - limited because you have to have insurance, not in rural communities,
have to have appointment
- team members- health care workers
2) Primary health care:
- Broad range of services
- Prevention of diseases
- Team members are same as primary care
- They need to be able to offer the three A's

II) Available ( go to them whenever need be)
III) Acceptable (do not turn away people)
What is public health nursing all about? - 1) population focused (care goes beyond the
individual)
2) community oriented (promoting and preserving the health of the population by
integrating skills and knowledge to maintain quality health status and quality
environmental health within the community/population.
3) Focus on health and prevention (it is easier to prevent the disease than to wait for it
to happen)
