What is CrossFit? - constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement What are functional movements? - Universal motor recruitment patterns that are performed in a wave of contraction from core to extremity and are compound - or multi-joint. What are the 10 domains of fitness? - 1. Cardio/respiratory endurance 2. Stamina 3. Strength 4. Flexibility 5. Power 6. Speed 7. Coordination 8. Agility 9. Balance 10. Accuracy How do good functional movements recruit muscle? - From the core out to the extremity What is an athlete? - A person who is trained or skilled in strength, power, balance and agility, flexibility, and endurance What is aerobic activity? - Activities usually greater than 90 seconds that utilize oxygen to metabolize substrates from food to release energy. Examples: Treadmill 20 min, swimming a mile What is anaerobic activity? - Activities usually 2 minutes or less that release energy in substrates without using oxygen. Examples: 100m Sprint, squats What are the two anaerobic systems? - 1. Phosphagen (or phosphocreatine) 2. Lactic Acid (or glycolitic) What two Olympic lifts develop the ability to do many of the others? - 1. Clean and jerk 2.
