Unit 9 Creative Product Promotion
P3 explain the role of advertising agencies in the development of a successful promotional
campaign
An advertising agency is a firm that creates new promotional ideas which can involve designing,
printing or even creating leaflets.
Examples of popular advertising agencies which help other businesses as part of their advertising
campaign
For example, Orange uses Saatchi and Saatchi advertising agency to create their adverts. Here is an
example of one of the adverts that they have created for Orange. This particular advert shows an
extremely fast car with an orange icon driving it. The super-fast speed of the car symbolises the
super-fast speed of their new smartphone. During the advert it shows cameras quickly taking
pictures which symbolises that the phone instantly takes photos. The car also drives past apps and
games meaning that the phone can run apps and games smoothly.

Another example would be that, the advertising agency that Dove uses is Ogilvy and Mather. An
advantage is that the employees in this team have a lot of contact with the other departments and
know a lot about the products which they are try to sell. Ogilvy and Mather also cut on costs as a
company when they decide to choose this method.

Purpose of recruiting an advertising agency
A service based business dedicated to creating, planning and handling advertising and sometimes
other forms of promotion have a large role to play nowadays. Competition is fierce between
agencies that have to provide a unique service to each client and to continue to develop new ideas
which will promote products and services in line with their client’s ethos. A business may decide to
use a ‘full service’ agency. This is an agency which provides a complete advertising service
encompassing creative work, production, media planning and buying
Nowadays promotion and good marketing are vital in order to have a successful business. Where
consumers before only had 1 or 2 brands to choose from, consumers now have a giant variety of
brands where they can choose from. Where it once was only enough to have a good slogan and a
good selling story, consumers now get triggered by promotional campaigns who sell them a lifestyle.
Examples of advertising agency types with their specialties and contributions to a successful
campaign
