MODULE 1
SELF- CONCEPT
-refers to your self awareness
Category of self concept:
✓ACTUAL SELF
- it is who we actually are. It is how we think, how we feel, look and
act.
- actual self is seen by others but we have no ideas how other view
us, the actual self is our SELF IMAGE
SELF KNOWLEDGE
Is derived from social interactions that provide insight into how
others react to you. ACTUAL SELF IS BUILD ON THIS
✓IDEAL SELF
- is the self that you aspire to be
- components of, what our parents taught us, what we admire from
other, what society promotes, and what we think is our best interest
NEGOTIATION- exchanges between the ideal and actual self
SOCIAL ROLES- adjusted or readjusted, and are derived from
outcomes of social interactions from infant to adult.
, ALIGNMENT- is very important. The alignment of actual self and
ideal self, that way I will feel a sense of mental being or peace of
mind.
If the way that I am is not aligned with how I want to be, the
INCONGRUENCE or lack of alignment, will result in mental distress
or anxiety.
PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS
- making use of all the personal resources ( talent, skills, energy and
time) to achieve life goals
TALENT- first are needed to be identified and then developed
EXPERIENCE- includes knowledge and skills that we acquire in the
process of cognitive and practical activities
KNOWLEDGE- required for setting goals, defining an action plan to
achieve them and risk assessment.
SKILLS- same ability is used many times

DETERMINATION
- focus on achieving specific goal without being distracted by less
important things
- may develop with the help of self-discipline
