Intelligence Requirements Any subject general or specific, upon which there is a need for the collection of information or the production of intelligence. Information Requirements An intelligence usage, those items of information regarding the adversary and other relevant aspects of the operational environment that need to be collected and processed in order to meet the intelligence requirements of a commander. Priority Intelligence Requirement (PIR) An intelligence requirement stated as a priority for intelligence support that the commander and staff need to understand the adversary or operational environment. Essential Element of Information (EEI) The most critical information requirements regarding the adversary and the environment needed by the commander by a particular time to relate with other available information and intelligence in order to reach a logical decision. What are the six phases of the intelligence cycle? • Planning and Direction • Collection • Processing and Exploitation • Analysis and Production • Dissemination and Integration • Evaluation and Feedback Planning and Direction The development of intelligence plans and the continuous management of their execution. Collection includes those activities related to the acquisition of data required to satisfy the requirements specified in the collection strategy. Processing and exploitation During processing and exploitation, raw collected data is converted into forms that can be readily used by commanders, decision makers at all levels, intelligence analysts and other consumers.
