, 1 INTRODUCTION

This assignment is to showcase how an e-commerce store can be setup successfully by doing
thorough market research and focusing on customer satisfaction. The e-commerce market is
growing rapidly within South Africa. A study conducted showed that 47% of customers currently
shopping in brick and mortar places will soon join the online buying community within the next
year. There has been a 20-35% growth in the e-commerce market in South Africa. Through the
case study and online research, the assignment will show that by aligning with consumer
preferences, prioritizing security measures, and embracing technological advancements, e-
commerce can become a crucial driver of economic growth in South Africa.

preference for diets abundant in minerals and vitamins. Additionally, 18% of the consumers
born between 1997 and 2012 actively seek out vegetarian or vegan choices when
purchasing food or beverages. Sustainability is also important; packaging will be bio-
degradable – made from sugar cane and plant starches
The most purchased items according to the case study was clothing and shoes, followed by
food and beverages. The South African Fashion e-commerce market is anticipated to
capture 20.7% of the country's total e-commerce market. Projections indicate a continued
upward trend in the coming years. With an expected annual growth rate of 7.2% over the
next four years, the market is forecasted to expand within the millions by 2028. During and
after the Covid pandemic in 2020, many consumers resorted to shopping online for their
