Hard Power - Answer-using the strength of a country to achieve goals through force. Hard power is focused on the use of military force. For example, the US took military action against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq during 2014. Soft Power - Answer-The reliance on diplomacy and negotiation to solve international problems. Soft power has a greater focus on liberal values and also persuasion tactics. Development aid is a key focus of soft power. For example, the US uses the organization USAID to provide aid for countries with a US security interest, such as Afganistan in 2015. Sovereignty - Answer-is an state or governments right of governing power over itself without outside actors. Power - Answer-the ability to achieve goals and influence others. Power can be used to acquire material goods. For example, a state can use its power to persuade a state to reform its governance model. Interdependence - Answer-A relationship between countries in which they rely on one another for resources, goods, or services Legitimacy - Answer-is the right and acceptance of authority, in most cases it is a government or regime. Military Power - Answer-Military power is closely linked to hard power, mainly because countries with military power usually use hard power. Military power is a country that has a focus on military strength, such as advanced weapons and technology. Economic Power - Answer-countries with large economies have greater economic power, such as Germany or Japan. Both have large economies, however in both cases Germany and Japan have a strong focus on their economies rather than military. States use their economic power has a form of hard power. Relational Power - Answer-when a state has a relationship with another state and uses that relationship to influence the state to change behavior.Globalization - Answer-the process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments worldwide. Globalization has grown more rapidly due to more access to trade and different cultures. Structural Power - Answer-when states influence the political ideas, structural ideas, and frameworks of global politics. For example, some states may push other states into uses a more capitalist democratic free-market economic model. Social/cultural power - Answer-through globalization some cultures have been able to export their cultural resources across the world
