-PO without regard for meals but give with food if stomach irritation occurs
-Buccal tab for oral lesions; admin with dry hand to the affected side of the mouth
-Topical; apply with a finger cot or rubber glove to prevent autoinoculation of other body sites
and transmission of infection to others (burns)
-IV; dilute with the solution as indicated, admin over 60 minutes, NEVER bolus (IV push)

-agents for influenza A & respiratory viruses
-only known antiviral effective for avian influenza
-drug must be given within 2 days of the onset of symptoms
-complete full course of treatment, even if symptoms resolve
-alert patient that drug isn't a replacement for the annual flu vaccine
-advise patient or caregivers of the risk of neuropsychiatric events and to report abnormal
behavior (go to hospital is psychotic features)
Zidovudine indication
-for HIV & AIDS
-pregnant women may use
Fosamprenavir adverse effects
given for hepatitis B
-lymphocytopenia
-changes in liver function (hepatic dysfunction is contraindicated)
-elevated cholesterol, triglycerides, and BS levels
-stevens-johnson syndrome
onset & duration of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) blocking agents
-most of them duration is more than 60 minutes
-onset is less than 5 minutes
-pancuronium; onset is 5 minutes & duration is 50 minutes
-succinylcholine (Anectine/Quelicin); onset 30 to 60 seconds & duration is 15 minutes
NJM contraindications/cautions
-may cause paralysis for the performance of surgical, endoscopic diagnostic procedures, or
facilitation of mechanical ventilation
-make sure to have emergency equipment available
-caution: personal or family hx of malignant hyperthermia
