Tariff systems
DEFINITION: A TARIFF IS THE BILLING SYSTEM USED BY A SERVICE PROVIDER
WHICH DETERMINES HOW THEIR CUSTOMER IS CHARGED FOR GOODS AND
SERVICES.
INCLUDE VAT: MULTIPLY 1.15
EXCLUDE VAT: DIVIDE 1.15

, Example: water tariffs

Water tariff R/kl  the tariff used for water is given in the table.
Use the table to calculate how much a
More than 0kl-6kl R4.65 household would pay for using 5kl, 8.3kl, 13k
Above 6kl-10.5kl R17.75  5kl: 5kl x R4.65 = R23.65
More than 10.5kl R25.97  8.3kl: 0kl - 6= 6kl x R4.65 = R27.90
6kl - 8.3 = 2.3kl x R17.75
R 27.90 + R 17.75 = R 42.65
 13kl: 0kl - 6kl = 6 x R4.65
6kl -10.5kl = 4.5kl x R17.75 = R79.87
10.5kl – 13kl = 2.5klx R25.97 = R64.9
R4.65+ R79.87+ R64.92 = R 146.44
