Intent practice of psychology by unqualified person = danger to public health, safety, and welfare. ensure emotional survival Practice of psychology includes all types of activities in which psychologists are involved through scientific and applied psychological principles, methods, & procedures WITHOUT REGARD TO WHETHER PAYMENT IS REQUESTED OR RECEIVED FOR SERVICES Practice of school psychology: assessment psychoeducational, developmental, and vocational assessment for learning, educational, or adjustment needs Practice of school psychology: counseling short-term, situation-oriented professional interaction; include verbal interaction, interviewing, behavior techniques, developmental & vocational intervention, evnironmental management, & group processes Practice of school psychology: consultation psychoeducational, developmental, and vocational assistance or direct educational services related to learning problems Practice of school psychology: program development designing, implementing, or evaluating learning environment; acting as catalyst for teacher involvement; facilitating psychoeducational development Provisional psychologist licensee can provide psychological services under supervision Board of Psychology 7 members appointed by Governor and confirmed by Senate for 4 year terms 5 licensed psychologists 2 non-psychologist citizens at least 1 member 60 years or older appointed for 4 years official headquarters: Tallahassee Licensure by examination: psychologist -application form -fee ($375) -doctoral level psychological education from accredited program or comparable foreign program; if not accredited, must submit certification of comparability from program director of an accredited program -at least 2 years (4000 hours) experience in psychology with supervision from licenced psychologist -passed EPPP Licensure by examination: school psychologist -application -fee ($250) -doctorate, specialist, or equivalent degree -60 semester hours/90 quarter hours of graduate study from accredited program -at least 3 years of experience in school psychology (2 years supervised by licensed school psychologist) -passed department exam Timeline to close applicant file: 24 months (if don't pass EPPP, FL Laws, and/or evidecen of completion of postdoctoral, supervised experience) BUT YOU CAN APPLY FOR AN EXTENSION After completing residency: can continue to practice UNDER SUPERVISION if you have a current application on file and have not been denied licensure Licensure by examination: provisional psychologist -application -fee ($250) -doctoral degree in psychology -meet any additional requirements Provisional psychology license expires 24 months after issued; may not be renewed or reissued Licensure by endorsement: -application -fee ($375) a.) valid license/certificate in another state with comparable or more stringent requirements b.) is ABPP diplomate c.) doctoral degree in psychology and at least 20 years of experience as a licensed psychologist in US jurisdiction during 25 most recent years -pass FL. Laws/Rules exam -cannot be under investigation in any jurisdiction for act in violation of this chapter License renewal Biennial renewal; $400 fee 40 hours CEUs Continuing Education Provider fee: $500 (deposited in Medical Quality Assurance Trust Fund) approved by board Discipline: Grounds for denial of license or disciplinary action (a-w = 1st degree misdemeanor) a.) attempting to obtain/renew license via bribery or fraud b.) having another license to practcie a comparable profession revoked, suspended, or acted against c.) being convicted or found guilty of crime which directly relates to practice of the profession d.) deceptive advertising e.) practicing under name other than your own
