P4: You must plan a holiday where you include the following:
You must find a holiday for David and Julia Bevan. They are both teachers at a secondary school.
They do not have children. They can only go away in schools holidays and they want a summer
holiday which takes up to five weeks, from the third week in July until the end of August. Their
budget is about £3000. This doesn’t include spending money.
At home, they take part in many community activities and pride themselves on their
environmentally conscious lifestyle. This means they are keen on recycling, tend to cycle rather
than drive, although they do have a car, and they buy their household products and clothes from
companies with reputations for ethical trading.
They want a holiday, but at the same time take part in a conservation or community project. They
are happy to fly, but will want to take part in a carbon offset scheme. They are very concerned that
their trip follows the principles of responsible tourism and you will have to explain how their
holiday does so. They want to travel to a developing country rather than Western Europe, but as it
will be mid-summer.
For David and Julia Bevans I have decided that they will be going to Kenya since it is still being
developed. This is a country in the Africa and is well know for its responsible tourism. I will also be
talking about the different activities they will be able to do over there. They will also be
contributing in community projects.
Since they will be travelling from London Heathrow, they will take British airways. They will be
leaving on the 16th of July at 10;25 from London Heathrow airport terminal 3 to jomo Kenyatta
international airport they will arrive there at 21:00 on the same day. This flight will take them 8
hours 35 minutes. Their return is on the 31st of august at 23:35 from jomo Kenyatta international
airport and will arrive on Heathrow airport terminal 3 the next day which is 1st of September. This
will take them 8 hour 45 minutes. They will be going on British airways and their ticket fare will be
$3,514.34, this is the fare for two adults on economy and taxes.
The reason that I choose British airways as the flight that they would travel in is because the carbon
offset scheme for this is when the passengers becomes a part of British airways in playing on the
climate changes, by giving the community a renewable energy task in the UK. This helps and saves
the carbon emission. It also makes a lot of differences to the communities in the UK. They eve have
a plan for climate action which develops new carbon fuels, different ways in which they can save
the emission.
