Coaching Principles What is the ASEP philosophy? - ANS Athletes First, Winning Second. -every decision and behavior displayed should be based first on what you judge is best for your athletes, and second on what may improve the team's chances of winning. Why is it important to have a coaching philosophy? - ANS helps you make difficult decisions and coach more successfully. How do you establish a philosophy? - ANS -consists of major objectives (things you value and want to achieve) -beliefs or principles that help you achieve your objectives. What is important to know about coaching styles? - ANS -Command Style- coach makes all the decisions. The athletes should respond to the coach's demands.(THE DICTATOR) -Submissive Style- coach makes as few decisions as possible. Provides little instruction, minimal guidance.(THE BABYSITTER) -Cooperative Style- coach share decision making with their athletes.
