Aperçu du contenu

D2 - Evaluate factors that infuence the efeccveness of each interacconn
In this assignment, I will be evaluatng factors that infuence the efectveness of my one-to-one interacton, as well
as my group interactonn I will be discussing what went well in my role plays and the barriersn

One-to-one interaccon

There are some strengths of my one-to-one interactonn One strength for my one-to-one interacton was having a lot
of preparaton tmen Me and my partner had a lot of practce tme before the actual role play, in which we could
figure out what we were going to do and sayn This meant that our interacton was performed to the best of our
abilites as we had tme to perfect itn It also wasn't improvised and we knew exactly what to do, so there were no
pauses or silences during the role play and it ran smoothlyn Another strength for my one-to-one interacton was the
use of body language and gesturesn Our scenario involved a deaf patentt therefore, body language and gestures
were very important in order to communicate with him efectvelyn Body language is efectve when it comes to
communicaton because it shows us how someone is feelingn For example, if someone is slouched and looking away,
this can show that they are uninterested in the conversaton and boredn Gestures are efectve when it comes to
communicaton because they can help us understand what someone is sayingn There are certain gestures that we all
understand, such as shaking hands when saying hello, waving when saying goodbye, or putng our thumbs up when
saying something is goodn Both of these forms of communicaton are non-verbal, so they would be efectve when
communicatng with a deaf patentn The patent had a hearing aid but in case he stll couldn't hear clearly, he could
look at the carers body language and gestures to interpret what they are sayingn

However, there are also some barriers that occurred during my one-to-one interactonn One barrier for my one-to-
one interacton was that we didn't write a scriptn Me and my partner didn't write a script for our role play, which
meant that we didn't plan out exactly what we were going to sayn We had a lot of tme to practce as I previously
mentoned, so we roughly knew what to sayn However, if we wrote a script we would have known the exact words to
say which would have made the interacton a lot smoothern Also, I feel like I could have said more during my role
play, and a script would have helped me do son I am not very good at thinking of something to say on the spot and I
couldn't think of things to say during my role playn Another barrier for my one-to-one interacton was the change of
locatonn The room that we originally practced in was diferent to the room that we ended up doing our role play inn
The first room was a classroom and the second room was a computer roomn This meant that we didn't get as much
desk space as in the classroom, which was necessary for our role playn The classroom also had props which we
couldn't use in the computer room, which afected our role play because it may have been unclear what we were
doing at tmesn Furthermore, the fact that we were in a diferent locaton could have made us forget parts of the role
playn

Group interaccon

There are some strengths of my group interactonn One strength for my group interacton was that we all spoke in
turnn This is very important when it comes to group interactons, as it is necessary to let other people speak in order
to understand what they are talking aboutn If everyone spoke over each other the conversaton wouldn't get
anywhere because nobody would know what the other members of the group are talking aboutn I think we were
very good at listening to each other and letng other speak without interruptng themn We did this by using our
listening skills, which include hearing what another person said, thinking about what they mean, and thinking about
how you should replyn This is known as the 'actve listening' processn We also only spoke when we were asked to, for
instance, when we would get asked for our views on abortonn Another strength for my group interacton was that
we all sat in a way where we could all see each othern All members of the group sat in a circle opposite each other,
so that we could all see each other's facesn This is important because it creates a positve group feeling/atmosphere
which encourages people to share their opinions and take part in the conversatonn Also, facial expressions can
indicate how someone is feeling, and can reveal their thoughtsn

However, there are also some barriers that occurred during my group interactonn One barrier for my group
interacton was absencen I was absent on the day that my group interacton was supposed to take placen The rest of
my group stll completed their role play that day without men This means that I was lef without a group and was put
