Unit 19 – Developing Teams in Business
D1 – Evaluate the team’s overall efeetveness in meetng its
objeetves, making reeommendatons for improvements

Our shop floor team worked well together and had skills which complemented each other to help
the successful creaton of the shop floorr y allocatng a number of roles to each individual, we made
sure that we always had a job which suited our skillset, as well as making sure we supported each
other if an individual looked like they needed assistancer This mix of dedicated work and supportng
team work made sure that the team was working at the best of our ability throughout the creaton
of the shop floor, ensuring that the whole area was completed to the same standard, and that this
standard was highr

My role in the task was to set up the tlls, point of sale, as well as a small display located close to the
tllsr l achieved this by uncluttering the area around the tlls, removing anything unnecessary,
afterwhich placing a tll, card reader as well as impulse purchases close to the tllsr This was a
partcularly hard task to complete due to us not having tlls or card machines, and the impulse
purchase being our own walletsr Therefore, in future, l would recommend that l bring the correct
equipment to ensure that the store looks as professional as possible, rather than using makeshift
equipmentr
Overall, l believe that l worked successfully, with my area being completed a short tme before the
deadline of the store set up, meaning l could direct my attenton into supportng team members
who were struggling to complete jobs which took longer than frst antcipatedr y going and helping
my team members, l could give them ideas used by myself, such as the chequerboard pattern which
we used to display clothing and these often helped the display, making it quicker to set up, or more
professional lookingr

ln additon to my individual role, our team was also successful overall as a whole groupr l believe this
is the case because although we worked on separate areas individually, if anyone needed assistance,
or someone had feedback for another individual, they would voice it, leading to the team working
together to rectfy the issues raised to help to increase the overall shop look and feelr lt was
essental during this teamwork that we efectvely communicated, as without this, frstly the team
members would not know if anyone else needed assistance, and second, feedback, both work which
has been completed well as well as critcal, could not efectvely be given on any area of the displayr
Although the event was conducted mostly successfully in the group, we did have some issues
working together caused by conflictng opinions and personalites, however, these are normal in
such group, and this was mitgated and reduced by the remaining members of the groupr One such
example was the fnal layout of the checkerboard area, which some members of the group feel that
it should have been strips of white above and black below, however, this is not as eye catching as
well as them losing in a vote on what people believe what method we should have usedr This
decision may have been a disadvantage and may have led to the stagnaton of the project due to
there being 4 people in the group, and if two people believed that we should use one method, and
two believed we should use another, we would not be able to contnue with the venture, however
we introduced a safety measure to ask another impartal individual their thoughts to ensure we have
selected the correct ideasr
