Kim Jong Un
Kim Jong Un rules the Democratc People’s Republic of North Korea through an Autocratc leadership method,
also known as an Authoritarian leadership.
His leadership is characterised by his decisions, which are rarely infuenced by other members, except his key
advisors, with him having the fnal say on all decisions.
Having ultmate control with any decisions in North Korea, Kim Jong Un can help the country develop with no
need to ask representatves for acceptance. This is advantageous as this gives the country the ability to quickly
change to situatons, which a democracy would fnd it harder to adapt to. This is because if the leader
identfed an issue, they can instantly change the country to identfy and make this issue less prominent, or
even beneft the country.
An authoritarian leadership style is most benefcial in groups where there is no clear cut leader, as well as in
groups where people do not want the pressure of leadership roles, and simply want to be told what to do.
Areas which beneft from an authoritarian leadership include the manufacturing and constructon industry.
This is because in these roles, it is essental that tasks are clearly defned, there are rules which need to be
followed and the projects need to be completed within a certain tme limit.
However, authoritarian leadership methods can be problematc, with the leader having total control, making
them dictatorial. This leadership method tends to discourage workers being individual and putng their view
across, due to this not being listened to by Kim Jong Un.
Kim Jong Un’s leadership style is parallel to his father, with the later only giving one publicly recorded speech
lastng for 12 seconds. Kim, on the other hand, ofen interacts with citzens, giving them the impression that he
is in the same positons as them. This style is positve for Kim Jong Un as these citzens will be extremely
comfortable with his positon as Supreme Leader.
