P3: Physical and Technological Resources
Describe the main physical and technological resources required in the operaton
of a selected organisatonn
For this task I will be explaining the physical and technological resources that are needed for a
selected organisatonn That organisaton is known as Delln I will explain how Dell uses these resources
to get to the aims they need to get ton
Physical
Buildings
When a business set ups, one of the goals is to make sure there is a physical place where the
business beat like a building (unless the business is only online based)n It could be a large skyscraper
or just a small buildingn Dell do not have many stores around, but the store, they do have are not
really large as in store there will be a set number of products that needs to be sold which is set as an
aimn If the store is out of stock, then orders will be made to the warehouse that more needs to be
sentn The warehouse is another type of building that Dell usesn Dell does have one main building
located in Texasn This is where Dell headquarters is locatedn
For my business is won’t need a really large building as my business is going to be a small business in
a local arean If the business succeeds in the future, then expanding can be consideredn
Location
The locaton of where a business set ups is one of the keys to successn Now Dell is a company that is
known globally and they need to make the right amount of money to feed the world with their
productsn In London, if Dell set up a store just their products, they would set up in a well-known high
commercial zone, like Oxford Street or Westieldn The reason Dell would do this is because it’s a
place where many people visit and spend a lot of money, it’s a place where expensive quality goods
are sold as well, so people will think that all products sold in the area are of good quality, which
attracts them even moren This gives Dell the advantage of making more salesn
Since my business is going to be a business that builds computer, sells PC components, sell
printers/scanners, install sofware, fx PC’s and sell other components for other types of devices like
smart phones HDMI cables and castng devicesn I need to set my business in a commercial zone to
attract customersn For example, in uueens Wayn

All areas, whether it be a business or a home needs a facilityn For example, restaurants will need to
have a kitchen otherwise they can’t make any food and it won’t be called a restaurant, police ofcers
need some sort of vehicle to get around the place in case of an emergency and so onn Dell also needs
facilites, such as a factory and a building for ofcial workn The factory will be where they
manufacture their products that they need to sell, without it they can pay other companies to do it
for them but it may be a greater costn But without a manufacturing facility, Dell won’t be able to sell
anythingn
