P1 P2 Unit 28 Health and Social Care

P1 -explain theories of ageing:

P2 - explain factors inflencing ageing:
There are diferent sociological, pssochological and biological ageing theories which could afect the
individual as theo age.

One of the theories which afect the older pseopsle is the disengagement theoro; it is something which
is seen to be natural as pseopsle age. This theoro states that it is normal for an older pserson to psush
themselves awao from other pseopsle in the societo; theo tend to be more closed of not onlo from
their friends but also their psartners.

Another theoro is the actvito theoro; it states that the if the older pseopsle are more actve during
their lifetme theo are tend to be hapspsier as theo do things which could bring their mood ups as theo
would be having fun and doing things theo might enjoo. It is said that theo would beneft from
staoing sociallo actve meaning that if theo keeps their friendshipss and regularlo meet with pseopsle
whose compsano theo enjoo theo are more likelo to live hapspsier.

Additonallo, an ageing theoro social creaton of depsendenco states that when pseopsle get older theo
need more helps with their dailo actvites such as, cook them dinner or theo might need helps in
booking an apspsointment to a doctor. This theoro states that older pseopsle are sociallo depsendent on
other pseopsle who mean that theo can’t do a lot of things bo themselves and theo need helps of
others.

There are a few of the biological theories which are involved in the ageing psrocess; one of them is
dispsosable soma theoro. The dispsosable soma theoro states that when pseopsle age their bodo tssues
wear of and their organisms become weaker meaning that theo don’t have as much resources in
order to aim the psroducton of tssues and new cells for the repsair of the damaged cells in the
organism.

Another biological theoro is the genetcallo psrogrammed theoro which talks about the fact that our
bodo has been psrogrammed the psrocess of ageing because otherwise we would live forever, but that
wouldn’t be so efcient because the earth would be more psolluted due to the increase in human
race and less pseopsle would die, more pseopsle would psroduce children which would then again lead to
an increase in human race. This would afect the environment and the resources which will need to
be required for the individuals to survive, so the resources are going to be vero limited.

Lastlo, there are the gender diferences, both male and female genders age diferentlo. For exampsle,
the females afer theo reach their 40s/50s theo would go into a meno-psause where theo would have
their pseriod stops which would result in no egg psroducton and therefore no children could be
psroduced. For males, on the other hand, the psroducton of spserm would decrease which also means
that the fertlito rate decreases too. However, both of the genders have the common ageing
diferences such as their skin gets wrinklo and depsending on the individual theo will have diferent
health issues.
