BIOLOGICAL THEORY - CESARE LOMBROSO
There are various different theories of crime. An Italian man called Cesare Lombroso came
up with a biological theory about crime. Lombroso studied the mental and physical
characteristics of criminals. He had a strong belief that offenders were a different species to
humans. Cesare Lombroso believed that criminals had a certain characteristic to them. He
said that criminals were inherited and could be easily identified from their physical features
such as someone having a hawk-like nose or bloodshot eyes. The features of criminals had,
that lombroso said were having a large jaw, high cheekbones or even scanty beard.
BIOLOGICAL THEORY - WILLIAM SHELDON
William Sheldon's theory about criminals were all about peoples boyd shape. Sheldon came
up with the theory that endomorph people were normally relaxed individuals and sociable. If
an individual had the body shape of an ectomorph they were tend to be restrained and
introverted people. The other boyd shape is mesomorphic. Sheldon believed that people
with a mesomorphic body shape were aggressive and adventurous. Overall his theory is all
about peoples body shape. Depending on your body shae will determine if you are a good
person or not.
