P6 – Explain the law with respect to consumer protecton in given situatonss
In this task, I am going to explain the law sin contract law that protect consumers when it
comes to purchasing products. In terms of consumers, there are remedies and laws that
protect consumers in terms of purchasing goods or services. The four laws that are remedies
to protect the consumer are The Sales of Goods Act 1979 and The Supply of Goods and
Services Act 1982, The Consumer Protecton (istant Selling) Regulatons 2000 and The
Electronic Commerce EC (irectve) Regulatons 2002.
The Sales of Goods Act 1979 is a law that protects the consumer when purchasing goods in
retail stores. The Sales of Goods Act 1979 have diferent ways of protectng the consumer
when buying goods such as checking if the goods are ft for the purpose intended, checking
the goods bought are exactly as they’re described, checking if the goods are good quality
etc.
The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 is where consumers are protected when paying
for services. Examples of which consumer protecton takes place in this law are checking if
the service is done at a reasonable tme, checking if the service is at a reasonable price or
checking if the service provides the reasonable care for consumers.
The Consumer Protecton Regulatons 2000 in terms of distant selling is a law that relates to
the distributon of goods being delivered or making a sale from the buyer to the seller via
the Internet. For example, ensuring that the product is being delivered on tme.
The Electronic Commerce Regulatons 2002 applies to the online services that businesses
provide and these circumstances could be checking if their online prices are the same as
their retail prices and checking the appropriate steps in placing orders when the product has
been purchased.

P7 – Describe the remedies available for breach of contracts
In this task, I am going to describe what remedies or laws are available for a breach of
contract. In contract law, there are remedies that can either protect consumers or protect
businesses in terms of the problems that can take place in a breach of contract.
Remedies for Consumers
One of the main remedies for consumers is rejecton of the goods. This is where the
consumer has the right to either reject the goods being delivered to them which could be
because of certain circumstances such as the product not being as they were described or
they can ask to be issued a full or partal refund due to the goods not being as good as they
expected it to be.
Exclusion Clauses is also a remedy for consumers to be protected in a breach of contract.
This can only be successful if the consumer receives a damaged product and it wasn’t their
fault for the damage. If it was the consumer’s fault for the damage, then it is not a
successful remedy.
