Calibration of thermometers
We set up a heatproof mat, with a Bunsen burner on top. Then above the Bunsen burner we had a
tripod stand and gauze. Then we boiled the kettle and added some of the boiling water to a 250cm3
beaker. Then we put in a liquid thermometer, waited for the temperature to stabilise, and read the
reading, after that we then put in the digital thermometer, waited for the temperature to stabilise,
and read the reading. We repeated this another 2 times for each thermometer. Then we did the ice
and water mixture where we added some room temperature water and some ice into a beaker, then
put the liquid thermometer in the beaker, kept stirring the water, and then waited for the
temperature to stabilise, then took down the reading. We then repeated this with the digital
thermometer. After we repeated this another 2 times for each thermometer.
