Physical Therapy - Evaluation and treatment of a person by physical measures and the use of ther ex, and rehab procedures, with or without AD for the purpose of preventing, correcting, or alleviating any disability. Physical therapy includes: - -Design, fabrication, revision, education and instruction in the use of various AD's including braces, splints, ambulatory, locomotion devices, w/c's, prosthetics and orthotics -Administration of topical drugs that have been prescribed by a licensed health professional authorized to prescribe drugs -Establishment and modification of PT programs, treatment planning, patient education and instruction, and consultative services -Physiotherapy Physical measures include: - Massage, heat, cold, air, light, water, electricity, sound, and performance of test of neuromuscular function Physical therapy DOES NOT include: - Medical diagnosis of patient's disability, the use of Roentgen rays or radium for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, or use of electricity for cauterization or other surgical purposes. Physical Therapist - A person who practices or provides patient education and instruction in physical therapy and includes a physiotherapist Individual who performs initial examination unless that PT has transferred the responsibility for the management of the patient's care to another PT and that PT agrees to the transfer Physical Therapist Assistant - A person who assists in the provision of physical therapy treatments, including the provision of patient education and instruction, under the supervision of a physical therapistSupervision - Availability and responsibility of the supervisor for direction of the actions of the person supervised Duties of PT section - -License persons desiring to practice PT or as PTA's in this state -Conduct investigation, inquiry, or hearings. Any findings confirmed or approved by the section -Keep record of proceedings -Keep register of applicants -Maintain a register of every PT and PTA in this state; including last known place of business, last known residence, date and number of the license -Deposit all fees collected -Provide applicant with section address, dates of upcoming meetings and list of section member names upon receipt of an application. License qualifications- PT - Name Current address Physical description & photo Proof of completion o a master's or doctorate program of PT educaion that is accredited by NPT accreditation agency. Education requirement- PT - -Min of 120 academic semester credits or equivalent, including courses in biological and other physical sciences -Course in physical therapy education that has provided instruction in basic sciences, clinical sciences, and PT theory and procedures What is the fee for application/license? - Not more than $125 How soon should the section approve application to sit for examination? - No later than 120 days after receiving the app. The board can: - -Request documents relevant to the section's evaluation of the application-Notify applicant in writing of intent to deny a license and applicant's right to request a hearing to appeal decision If section fails to comply: -Section shall refund 1/2 of the application fee to applicant License qualifications- PTA - Name Current address Physical description and photo Proof of completion of a two year program of education accredited by national physical therapy accreditation agency Criminal records check - OTPTAT board shall not grant a license to an applicant for initial license unless applicant complies with sections of the revised code and the board decides that the results of the criminal records check do not make the applicant ineligible for a license.
