Many are used in urban pest management operations today. Cholinesterase, Acetylcholinesterase -ANSWER An enzyme in animals that helps regulate nerve impulses. This enzyme is depressed by N-Methyl Carbamate and Organophosphate pesticides. Chronic Toxicity -ANSWER The ability of material to cause injury or illness (beyond 24 hours following exposure) from repeated, prolonged exposure to small amounts. Commercial Applicator -ANSWER Any person who engages in the business of applying pesticides or operating a device for hire, as defined by the Colorado Pesticide Applicators' Act. Cultural Control -ANSWER A pest control method that includes changing human habits. Example: Sanitation, changing work practices, changing cleaning and garbage pickup schedules, ect. Deposit -ANSWER The amount of pesticide on treated surface after application. Desiccant -ANSWER A type of pesticide that draws moisture of fluids from a pest causing it to die. Certain desiccant dust destroy the waxy outer coating that holds moisture within an insects body. Diluent -ANSWER Any liquid gas or solid material used to dilute or weaken a concentrated pesticide. Disinfectant -ANSWER A chemical or other agent that kills or inactivates disease producing microorganisms. Chemicals used to clean or surface-sterilize inanimate objects.
