For our event my job role was to be in charge of the running of the tournament. I was setting
the teams up, deciding what games were going to be played, when and then collate the scores
to set up the following rounds. I was also making sure that players who were on the bench,
didn’t interrupt the game taking place.
I can say that my contribution to the event make it successful as if I didn’t collate all the
scores on the board or decided which teams where going to be playing and when, the
tournament wouldn’t have run smoothly and they probably would’ve been confused as the
participants and my mates would’ve not known which matches were already played and
which not, making the event a disaster and creating a nervous and bad atmosphere.
However, we had some little issues with the players waiting to play on the benches. In the
middle of the matches some of them were running from one end to the other and we told
them to stop as they could’ve been injured because there were 2 teams playing in the hall, and
they could’ve been hurt. Also, after nearly every goal scored, subs ran to celebrate it with the
team which scored. As this was my responsibility, we talked it with the 3 of us and we
decided to stop the game and told them to stop doing that as they were doing that the
tournament ran slower and they could’ve been injured.
We knew that they were excited, but this was affecting the tournament and making every
match a bit longer. We had to manage sometimes their behaviour but they listened to us and
stopped doing this and the event were really nice and comfortable to us.
We overcame the issue by stopping the match and regrouping all of them in the middle of the
pitch, and then when they were quiet we told them about this. First of all, we let them know
that it was dangerous as they could’ve got hurt if they kept running from one end to the other
one as there were chances of getting hit by a player or the ball. Also, we let them know that
they could’ve fallen and get injured or injure one of the players, and finally we let them know
that by doing all of this, they were doing the tournament ran slower and this was affecting
them and us, because we made the games shorter as we had a SMART TARGET of finishing
the event by 5pm. They listened to us and as we thought and they did not do it again in the
rest of the tournament.
Finally, I believe that my contribution to the event and the running of it has been crucial and
proved to be successful because with all the responsibilities I had, I completed all of them
which mean that the tournament was run smoothly as we thought. Thanks to my contribution
we were able to complete one of the most important SMART TARGETS which was to finish
the event by 5pm.
