ROLES OF AN EVENT ORGANISER
It is vital that the event organiser is open-minded, flexible and focused on the
job at hand. Event organisers must be adaptable and professional in everything
they do. They need a particular ability to spot good compromises and know
what is essential to the success of the event.
Before they start working and organising, organisers must draw up a list of
those elements and discuss which one is the most important and what would
happen if any of those elements were missing.
Event organisers make the job look easy. But it’s not as simple as it looks. A
good event organiser will come up with a detailed plan with lots of ideas that
will meet the specific objectives, and will be achievable within the budget.
Once the plan is agreed, the event organiser will prepare the plan; secure the
venue and the programme, keeping all the staff regularly updated on what is
happening throughout the process.
Event organisers will have thought as well in things like health and safety
requirements, progress meetings and supplier briefings. And all the employees
will know exactly where they are meant to be, when, how and what to do.
Also, event organisers will arrive before everybody and make sure everything is
set up. They will have final instructions with all those involved. They will
oversee the smooth running of the entire event and quietly deal with any
issues that arise in a calm and professional way. They will ensure that after the
guests have departed the client is happy, that everything is cleared and that
the venue and all the other people involved in the day are thanked.
And after the event they will ask for a feedback and review the whole process,
establishing what can be improved in the future.
